1998 BMW Z3M Roadster

As history tells us, some of the most innovative and passionate creations have come from small teams of engineers working outside the spotlight.

BMW’s Motorsport division has long embodied this spirit, and in the late 1990s they turned their attention to the humble Z3 Roadster, transforming it into a true driver’s car - the Z3M Roadster.

Launched in 1997, the Z3M Roadster brought genuine ///M performance to BMW’s open-top sports car. Beneath its sculpted bonnet lay the same award-winning S50 3.2-litre inline six as the E36 M3, producing 236kW and capable of catapulting the car from 0–100km/h in just over 5 seconds. With a taut chassis, limited-slip differential, quad exhausts, and larger M-specific brakes, this was a Z3 like no other - a proper M car in every sense.

On offer today is an Australian-delivered 1998 BMW Z3M Roadster, finished in the iconic Estoril Blue over Black leather, showing 106,859 km from new. Delivered new through Southport BMW in Queensland, this example has been meticulously kept with a full service history, books, and two keys. It has travelled only around 3,500 km in the last 6 years and has just received a fresh service in August 2025.

Compared to the standard Z3, the M Roadster was given flared wheel arches, aerodynamic M mirrors, unique front and rear bumpers, 17-inch M alloy wheels, and special interior touches including ///M instruments and sports seats.
