1999 Subaru Impreza WRX STI

Upon the initial release of the very first Impreza WRX in 1994 it was an instant success, appealing to motoring aficionados around the globe for its inconceivable performance and its signature “Boxer Burble”

WRX’s have been a popular choice for many motoring enthusiasts since its release. The early shape being the most desirable for its representation of the Peter ‘Possum’ Bourne and Colin McCrae cars that changed Subaru’s rallying reputation from fledgling to champion status.

Direct from the Japanese factory, Australian WRXs received a 155kW version of the 2.0 litre 4 Cylinder turbocharged boxer motor, however in 1999 we were graced with the launch of the all new two-door WRX STI (Subaru Technica International), limited to just 399 cars to our local market.

As well as all new robust suspension and a short-shifting gearbox, power was upgraded to a whopping 206kW thanks to all new forged pistons, hollow stem inlet valves, sodium-filled exhaust valves and a higher compression ratio allowing the STI to hit 100km/h in just 4.9 seconds and redlining at 8200rpm.

We are excited to bring to market this excellently well preserved 1999 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Coupé.

Ordered in desirable WRC Blue and delivered new by Ward Motors Camberwell, Victoria on the 22st of January 1999, this WRX STI Coupe has travelled just 151,400 kilometres since.

Just two owners from new, after 12 years of ownership the current owner is reluctantly permitting the Impreza’s next custodian to take the wheel.

During its ownership this Impreza has had zero modifications and has been fastidiously maintained with a complete and up-to-date Subaru and specialist service history.

The WRX STI is accompanied with its original handbooks, service booklets, two-keys and paperwork documenting its maintenance history. With a very scarce quantity of examples like this existing today, this car is a perfect match for an avid enthusiast or collector.
