2009 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti

The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti was intended to marry understated styling and spectacular performance to a new level. Named in honour of Sergio Scaglietti, Ferrari's seminal coach builder of the 1950's and the "Maestro of Aluminium", the 612 being Ferrari’s second all-aluminium vehicle features several styling homages to the coachbuilder's work such as the scalloped sides that are a reference to the highly successful 375 MM sports racing car of the 50s.

Fitted with one of the most charismatic powerplants from the Scuderia, the 612 is capable of 313 kph and travels to 100 kph in less than 4.3 seconds while at the same time providing a practical 2+2 alternative to the 575 MM with which it shared its V12 engine or the later 599 GTB. The 612 was also 60kg lighter yet 60% more structurally rigid, it was a great improvement on its extremely popular predecessor the 456M GT meaning that the chassis then formed the basis for the 599 GTB flagship.
