The Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake was launched at the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed in camouflage as one of the fastest wagons in the world, piloted by DTM champion Bernd Schneider.
Powered by AMG's sledgehammer 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 engine producing 386kW and 700Nm of torque mated to the AMG Speedshift MCT seven-speed gearbox with four transmission modes the AMG Shooting Brake hits 100km/h in just 4.3 seconds.There are also three modes to the suspension set-up – Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus – and adjustable ESP settings plus AMG front and rear axles, a 59mm-wider front track and uprated steering.
Externally, this car is distinguished from standard by a bespoke front apron and bonnet and an AMG radiator grille. It also gets broader front wings with ‘V8 Biturbo’ lettering, a rear diffuser and sports exhausts with twin chrome tailpipes and lightweight 19-inch AMG triple-spoke alloys.
The interior received the AMG treatment too with AMG sports seats in Nappa leather, Piano Black lacquer trim, unique instruments and an AMG leather multi-function steering wheel with shift paddles.
The exceptionally rare and well cared for car offered here is one of just five launch edition cars that were delivered to Australia called the ‘Edition 1’. These limited production models were equipped with the optional Performance Pack that pushes power up to an impressive 410Kw and 800Nm, which made this at the time the fastest wagon money could buy.
