The original 1954 Mercedes-Benz SL (Sports Leicht) was crowned sports car of the century so with lineage this iconic, the 2013 R231 SL500 had big shoes to fill.

Having shaved a whopping 140kg of weight from the previous model with an all new aluminium/magnesium body the R231 SL500 is leaner, more agile and jam packed with new technology including the selectably transparent retractable glass roof called Magic Sky Control.

The SL 500's 4.7 bi-turbo BlueDIRECT V8 outputs 320kW at 5250rpm and a grin-inducing 700Nm of torque. The engine produces 20kW more in SL guise than it does in any other contemporary model with enough horsepower to propel it from 0-100km/h in just 4.6 seconds.

Pre-Safe, Attention Assist, intelligent lighting, lane keeping, active blind-spot assist and internet access are all included and an optional AMG package with sports-suspension lowers the body for a more aggressive style and improved road holding.

The car offered was delivered new by Hunter Star Mercedes-Benz in May of 2013 to its one and only owner and ordered in the stunning combination of Obsidian Black over Nut-Brown Nappa Leather upholstery and Gloss Black Ashwood trim.

Optioned to extract the most from the this range topping sports car this SL500 features the Magic Sky Control roof, Sports seats with AirScarf nozzles perfect for open-top driving and the AMG Sports Package that includes larger front and rear aprons, side skirts, 19 inch light alloy wheels and a ride height 10 mm lower than standard.

Benefitting from a service in May of this year and with new tyres just fitted this SL500 has been meticulously maintained. Inside, the rich mix of leathers, soft touch plastics and metal finishes presents with zero signs of wear and outside the panel fit and finish is to a factory standard.

Accompanying the car are the original owner's manuals and maintenance booklet featuring a complete Mercedes-Benz service history all bound within the leather wallet, the original dealer brochures, invoices for everything and both original keys.

An unrivalled blend of style, comfort and supercar performance this SL500 is indeed a worthy progeny to the nameplate. In turn-key condition, this car is ready to enliven your daily commute and encourage you to just drive for the sake of driving on the weekend and escape through some twisting mountain roads.
