It’s been 38 years since the last E-Type rolled off the production line, but Jaguar has finally returned to what it says is the company’s “two-seat sports car heartland”.
The F-Type has been worth the wait. It’s a world-class 21st-century sports car that more than lives up to its illustrious predecessors. Stunning looks and a well designed cabin are matched by wonderfully engaging handling and a smooth supercharged engine. It makes you feel special every time you get behind the wheel, which is surely the hallmark of every great Jaguar sports car.It looks every bit as exciting as you’d expect a pure Jaguar sports car to look, with the thoroughly modern, beautifully detailed lines and taut proportions ensuring it has the desirability to live up to one of the most famous sports car bloodlines in the business.
The one-piece clamshell bonnet features the signature Jaguar power bulge and twin vents, while the vertically stacked headlights draw your eye along the sharp shoulder line all the way to the sloping rear deck. This, along with the tucked-under bumper and slender tail-lamps, gives a reinterpreted nod to the E-Type.
The Supercharged V6 S starts up with an enthusiastic burble through the huge centrally mounted rear exhaust pipes. Tap the sports exhaust button, release the clutch and all hell breaks loose through the throttle pedal.
It’s nimble, too. It might weigh more than its Porsche rivals, but the F-type Coupé is still darty and pointy, responding to inputs at the large wheel with speed and agility.
The beast tracks flat through corners, with hardly any body roll, the standard limited slip diff ensures great traction and the brakes haul off the inevitable speed with insouciance.
On offer is this excellent example which has been owned and cherished by only one person. Delivered new into Sydney, the car has only enjoyed leisurely drives keeping the kms to a minimum over the past 5 years.
Finished in a lovely dark blue metallic, the exterior colour works very well with the F-Type’s design and red brake callipers. Stepping inside and the black leather interior is in amazing condition with all the buttons and switch gear in clean working order.
Servicing is has been carried out by only factory Jaguar service centres and is all up-to-date with the latest being completed at the beginning of this year.
Stepping back and taking a look at this package, you quickly release what a great cost effective opportunity it is for a sports car with this much punch.
