Of all the many and varied possibilities available within the Porsche 911 range, a few stand out, and those from Porsche’s GT department rise above all of them. The racing division develops road cars to legitimize its weekend activities, which means that the GT3 is unashamedly linked to Porsche’s race cars. The result is a 911 that’s lighter, purer and more focused than the regular Carrera models, a car with a hardcore nature that appeals to customers .

Of course, Porsche draws strong links between the race cars which inspired the GT3 name and the road-going model itself, though the GT3 is the spiritual successor to the earlier 911 Carrera RS 2.7.

Having remained naturally aspirated and rear-drive since its first generation launched 20 years ago, the GT3 continues to be hailed as the “purist” Porsche and is now the only proper production 911 that’s hasn’t gone Turbo.

For the latest generation, the recipe of a flat-six has increased from 3.6lt to 4.0lt with power rising to produce 368kW of Swabian muscle. As stunning as the engine is, the rest of the package is also eagerly up to the challenge. The rear-drive combined with the optional PDK-Transmission ricochets through the gears. Sport mode is so proactive, you don’t even have to bother with the manual changes…unless you want to.

The result is a driving experience straight from the Weissach playbook – pushing the boundaries to deliver the highest level of road and track capabilities and the most rewarding ownership. The 911 GT3 Clubsport is truly the most involving Porsche in the family.
