Officially unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motorshow, the Gen 2 911 Type 997 GT3 RS delivers one of the most visceral driving experiences on the road today, a pure racing car with number plates.

Described by the majority of motoring press as "The best driver's 911 yet”, the Gen 2 GT3 RS offers a mighty 500hp launching you from 0-100kmh in a spine tingling 3.8 seconds.

There’s no rear seats but there is a flat-six engine that is a direct descendant of the one that took Porsche to victory at Le Mans in the 1990s but the GT3 RS is hardly just about horsepower- it gets a wider track, it weighs less, and it produces more downforce than the GT3.

From the lightweight short ratio 6 speed manual transmission, plexiglass rear window, carbon Recaro bucket seats, dynamic engine mounts, carbon fiber rear wing and titanium exhaust, every millimetre of the GT3 RS is engineered to outperform just about anything. There are 911’s and then there's the 911 GT3 RS.

Sold new by Chellingworth Porsche in October of 2010, available here is one of just 45 Australian delivered Gen 2 911 Type 997 GT3 RS’s.

Ordered in Porsche’s hero colour combination of Stone Grey and Guards Red and travelled just 16,000 kilometres this Shift Your Own or Stay at Home GT3 RS is optioned with Porsche Ceramic Composite brakes (PCCB) and Instrument Dials in Guards Red.

Indicative of the short distance the car has travelled and the meticulous maintenance it has received the overall condition is second to none.

The original paintwork still carries its factory mirror finish, the original contrast Guards Red centre-lock alloys show zero signs of wear and the overall totally original presence is still fresh, one of Porsche’s best 911 designs.

Within the cockpit the trend continues, the spotless carbon backed Recaro’s with Red RS 3.8 embossed into the headrest, as well as touch points like the Alcantara bound steering wheel, switch gear and shifter normally so prone to wear all present in excellent condition.

Available with the car are the original log books detailing a Porsche service history, the latest in June of 2018 as well as the original key bound within the leather wallet.

There is no other driving experience quite like what the legendary RS variants offer. From the hallowed 1973 2.7 RS onwards, this most-special 911 continues the RS tradition of wild paint schemes and the purest, simplest, most exciting and rewarding hit of adrenaline fuelled motoring money can buy.

Back to basics in the best possible way and now revered as Porsche’s last Drivers 911, representing a rare and exciting investment opportunity you can seriously sink your teeth into this last of its kind Gen 2 911 Type 997 GT3 RS is something quite special.
