Introduced to the world at the Ford Pavilion in 1964, THE most anticipated vehicle releases the world has ever seen, after many months of rumors, gossip and news leaks the Ford Mustang was released.
Still being manufactured today the Mustang has been one of the most iconic sports cars produced to date. Its familiar design has remained ultimately unchanged much like the Porsche 911 and due to its appearance in popular culture, first appearing in James Bond’s: Goldfinger in 1964, and to this day even amongst non-petrol heads the Ford Mustang is unmistakably recognizable cruising down Sunset Boulevard or parked outside a Silver Airstream late-night American Diner.Offered in a Saloon, Convertible or the ultra-desirable Fastback and after its initial release, for the new model year of 1965, the Ford Mustang was available with a 3.3L Inline Six-Cylinder or the quintessential 4.7L V8 widely known as the ‘289’ featuring either ‘C-Code’ two-barrel carburetor or ‘A-Code’ Four-barrel carburetors.
On the showroom floor we have a superb example of a July built 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback ‘A-Code’ 289 ordered in Ivy Green Metallic, Black Vinyl Trim with factory air-conditioning and manual transmission.
Arriving in Australia in 2007, this Ford Mustang was professionally converted to Right-Hand Drive and later equipped with a fully-synchromesh Tremec short-ratio 5-Speed transmission allowing for efficient, direct and fast gearchanges improving performance.
Accompanying the vehicle is a large history filed dating back to when it first arrived on our shores with receipts detailing a full mechanical overhaul including work to the engine, brakes and suspension over a period of 8 years.
Today presented in its original colour combination, this Ford Mustang is in excellent condition both in the paintwork around the exterior providing a glass like metallic finish as well as inside the cabin the interior trim presents immaculately to original specification.
Recently released from a classic car collection, this Pony is a turn key example and is one for the driving enthusiast. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to own this desirable American classic muscle.
