After dominating the small roadster class for nearly a decade, Mazda responded to the arrival of a host of new drop-top challengers by launching a new MX-5 in 1998. Essentially a heavily reworked version of the original, the new NB model featured revised looks, an upmarket interior and a more powerful engine. Yet the company was careful not to mess with a winning formula, so the Japanese two-seater was fun to drive, affordable to run and solidly built.
Celebrating the great roadster, Mazda released a Heritage Edition which gave the car a unique classic styling through a host of lovely options. This includes an exotic exterior paint colour, light tan leather interior with the soft-top roof colour matched, beautiful wood Nardi steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake lever plus chrome finished alloy wheels.Only 100 cars were brought to Australia and we at Classic Throttle Shop are very lucky to be able to offer one of them in fantastic showroom condition. Coming from a large collection of Miatas, this special example was purchased from Mornington Mazda in March 2000 by a business owner.
Our unique MX-5 comes with its original Mazda wallet with the owners manual, warranty servicing booklet and other information cards. It also has tow spare keys with key-code tag. It also comes with the jacket and cap especially made for the Heritage cars.
Owned and kept by a top MX-5 collector, the car has been very well looked after and maintained correctly. Ever becoming rarer are MX-5’s in original near new condition. This unique example will be one which can only go in one direction in terms of value and is such a cool car to own and experience.
