Built between 1982 and 1991, the Porsche 944 replaced the 924 that came before it.
While it shared the same platform, the 944 was extensively reworked, featuring a stiffer chassis, improved suspension tuning, and an all-new, Porsche-designed 3.0-litre four-cylinder engine. The result was a thoroughly driver-focused, canyon-carving machine with near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution and a healthy 120 kilowatts on tap.
Styling-wise, the 944 gained a more aggressive, hunkered-down stance thanks to wider bodywork with flared arches, revised front and rear bumpers, and a larger rear wing inspired by the 911.
The 1989 Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet is one of those rare machines that seamlessly blends performance with practicality. It has all the poise and handling of a true sports car, without the intimidation factor of a 911. Quick, precise, and supremely comfortable, it's exactly the sort of car you’d want for open-air driving without compromising on the essence of what makes a Porsche, a Porsche.
Offered here is an Australian-delivered, totally original 1989 Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet in Guards Red over black leather trim, having travelled just 104,000 kilometres.
