A high-tech Sapporo express ahead of its time, if there was ever a posterchild for Japanese performance car technology it was the Mitsubishi 3000 GT (or GTO in Japan).
An advanced and unburstable beast featuring a transversely mounted, front-mid-twin-turbo V6 producing 210kw good to despatch the 0-100km/h sprint in just 5.5 secs, ABS, all-wheel drive, four-wheel-steering, tuneable exhaust for sport and touring modes, heated mirrors and electronically controlled suspension (ECS), when new the 3000 GT was more powerful and better equipped than the heroic R32 GT-R.Visually, the car featured classic GT proportions plus pop-up headlights, rear spoiler, 17-inch alloys, quad exhaust tips with a deep burble, functioning rear wing gills and “caps” integrated into the bonnet to accommodate the ECS controllers at the top of the suspension struts.
Brought to Australia in strictly limited numbers, just 117 units over a few years and with the model flying under the radar relative to its Japanese brethren like the Supra or GT-R it’s very hard to find an original and well-maintained example.
Available here at CTS we have a totally original and genuine low mileage 1992 Mitsubishi 3000 GT delivered new to Sydney, Australia in December of 1992.
Ordered and presented in it’s factory Pearl White Metallic painted over rare optional factory Black Leather this 3000 GT has travelled just 44,324 kilometres from new.
It’s first owner who lived in Southern NSW used it frequently and had it serviced it regularly with Mitsubishi Penrith with his ownership spanning up until early 2000s. The second owner, an avid car collector, purchased the vehicle and kept it in dry storage up until now.
An absolute time-warp inside and out this 3000 GT has had zero modifications and is as per factory specification which, today is hard to find.
Accompanied with its original service booklet and the subject of a full major service which included a set of new tyres, new water pump, all new drive belts, spark plugs and more, this Mitsubishi is ripe for its next custodian.
One of Mitsubishi’s greatest hits, this iconic Japanese grand tourer is the perfect investment for the enthusiast looking for their next Sunday coffee and cars runner or the discerning collector finding an excellent addition to the garage.
