Prior to the introduction of the new Type 991, Porsche bid farewell to the 997 series with a bang, giving birth to the GTS variant. This model represented the epitome of sportiness, boasting a wider track, increased horsepower, and meticulous specifications compared to the Carrera S/4S.
Normally reserved for AWD and motorsport department models, the rear-drive GTS retained its curvaceous wide-track body. It was also given a 3.8-litre direct-injection motor with the Power kit found in the Speedster and Sport Classic, boosting output to 402BHP.
Other GTS goodies included RS Spyder center-lock 19-inch alloys, a SportDesign front apron/black side skirt from the GT2, half leather/Alcantara sport seats, Alcantara steering wheel, headlining, and door cards, all directly from the GT3.
The GTS is a driver-focused machine, yet not as crashy and hard as a Motorsport model, delivering visceral thrill from its high-output naturally aspirated flat six, superglue grip from its rear wide track, and an intense soundtrack unique only to the 3.8 unit thanks to its bi-moral sport exhaust system.
Offered at Classic Throttle Shop is a 997 911 Carrera GTS cabriolet, as-new showroom condition. This vehicle was the last of only 7 997 Series 2 GTS cabriolets to be brought into Australia. With only 14,570 kilometres travelled. Sold and serviced exclusively by Porsche centre Melbourne and Porsche centre Sydney South, this vehicle is the highest optioned example to come onto the market, including:
Sport Chrono Plus package
Dynamic cornering lights
Alcantara Adaptive Sports Seats
Porsche crests embossed on seat headrests.
Paint protection film over entire car.
The vehicle is accompanied by its’ 2 original keys, all original booklets and service documentation. The last service was completed in March 2023. The car has been fitted with new Pirelli P-Zero tyres and is covered by Porsche’s Official Warranty Extension Program until March 2024.
The 997 Series 2 GTS is now generally regarded as one of the most complete and rewarding 911s there has ever been. With a mix of focused performance attributes, luxurious comfort, and strong visual appeal thanks to many of the 4S/GT2/GT3 styling cues, the everyday useability, responsiveness and thrill of the 911 has never been better on show than with this model.
If you are looking for the ultimate 997 Series 2 GTS, then this is the best example of this highly desirable, rare, and collectible example of the marque you will find.
