Another bizarre experiment gone very right from the TOP SECRET laboratory that is Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicles division, the Ranger Rover SVR is the hardest accelerating 4WD on the planet with genuine off-road conquering capabilities AND ridiculous performance ready for a track assault.
Under the bonnet lies the very same aluminium Supercharged 5.0 litre V8 from its Special Vehicles stablemate, the Jaguar F-Type SVR, producing a whopping 575HP reaching zero to 100km/h in just 4.7 seconds thanks to its 8-Speed ZF automatic transmission and topping out at 285km/h, however it just doesn’t end there...ON THE TARMAC
To merely summarize the amount of technology implemented into the Range Rover Sport will only scrape the surface to how well engineered these SUV’s truly are.
The SVR provides instant acceleration through its supercharged V8 mated to its lightweight all-aluminium body. It also features a two-stage active exhaust system with electronically controlled valves producing a violent racecar-like staccato soundtrack as the revelations build.
Range Rover’s corner recognition technology is staggeringly good, maintaining gears through a bend providing stability additionally with its very clever Active-Roll Control which replaces anti-roll bars using actuators powered by hydraulic pumps specifically tuned for the SVR to reduce body roll. Torque Vectoring by Braking is recalibrated for extreme handling whilst performance driving aiding this tank-like object through corners better than your average sports car.
OFF ROAD
Even with all this mumbo-jumbo performance, it is still a Range Rover, engineered to handle the harshest conditions this Earth has to offer that would have many of its competitors stuck within the first few metres.
Wheel travel remains the same to the standard RR Sport with 260mm at the front, 272mm at the rear and wading depth continues to be to “real” off-road standard of 850mm.
This 2015 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR ordered in Estoril Blue over Black Leather has travelled just 11,000kms from new and in stunning as-new condition.
